The allure of Scandi style is never ending. Maximalists will try to simplify the sartorial genre as ‘just minimalism’ – note the emphasis on ‘just’ – but, really, it’s an uncomplicated dress-code that the natives of Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen have mastered. A seemingly plain navy knit, neutral pair of utility trousers and canvas tote ensemble can either fall into one of two categories: one that looks nonchalantly fantastic or one that looks hella boring. But the Nordic street-style set will always fall into the former, as that kind of effortless, oat-latte-wielding sensibility is inherent to their lifestyle. And as us Brits don’t have that innate ability – nor that cool charisma – we have COS to thank for bringing those design codes closer to home.
Without having to leave the confines of the capital city, you can find that easy-going aesthetic within the retailer’s collections. But this season sees the brand move into a new direction: cue COS’ collaboration with London-based brand Yeboah.
On Thursday 26 January, the alliance will debut Metamorphosis; the collection formed between the global brand and Reece Yeboah. For the latter, this marks the debut of Yeboah as a stand-alone label, drawing on the founder’s upbringing between Ghana and London and his complex journey to its inception. With the butterfly as its emblem, the 40-piece collection explores the fusion of luxe streetwear and contemporary tailoring though a collaborative lens.
